The Longevity of the Ottoman Empire and Foundations

As the Boğaziçi Islamic Studies Community, we organized a conference discussing the longevity of the Ottoman Empire and the role of the foundation (waqf) system in this process.
With the participation of esteemed scholars Prof. Dr. Mehmet Genç and Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, this event explored the significance and function of foundations in the political, economic, and social structure of the Ottoman Empire. Our speakers analyzed how foundations served as a stabilizing factor in the empire’s centuries-long governance, providing crucial insights from a historical perspective.
