The Future of Syria After the Assad Regime

English

As Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Society, we organized a conference titled "The Future of Syria After the Assad Regime". We hosted Ahmet Arda Şensoy, a researcher who is continuing his doctoral studies at The University of Nottingham, at our event.

Ahmet Arda Şensoy is a researcher specializing in the Syrian Civil War, proxy wars, and Middle East politics. After completing his undergraduate studies at Istanbul Commerce University in 2015, he received his master's degree from Sakarya University Middle East Institute with his thesis titled "Russia's Hybrid War Strategy and the Syrian Example". He is currently continuing his studies on the dynamics of proxy state relations in the Syrian Civil War.

The conference discussed possible scenarios for the future of Syria after the end of the Assad regime after 13 years of civil war. Şensoy analyzed the political, social, and economic challenges that Syria may face in the post-Assad era and shared his predictions about the reconstruction process of the region. He also discussed the roles of international actors in Syria's future and how the balance of power in the region could be shaped.

Our event provided an important opportunity for participants who wanted to gain in-depth information about Syria's future. At the end of the program, participants had the opportunity to ask Ahmet Arda Şensoy their questions and ask them what they were curious about on the subject.
