About us
Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club (BİSAK) was founded in 2013 by students of Boğaziçi University to bring a fresh perspective to studies that prioritize understanding Islam. In 2015, it gained official club status.
Our club aims to introduce the rich heritage and noble values of Islam; in this regard, we organize academic and cultural events to help students gain a deeper understanding of Islam. Since 2015, we have been organizing various activities such as conferences, seminars, symposiums, exhibitions, workshops, and book reading groups to better comprehend and practice our religion from both a social sciences perspective and within the framework of Islamic disciplines such as hadith, fiqh, and kalam. Some of our past events include “Islamic Geography Diaries,” “Fiqh and Ilmihal Workshop,” and “Traditional Book Exhibition.”
BİSAK also serves as an important platform for Muslim students at our university to come together and connect. Through collective prayers, iftar programs, and social gatherings, we strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among students and foster a sincere community. These events allow students to fulfill their religious duties together and build a social network by getting to know one another.
We host distinguished scholars from around the world at our university to enhance our knowledge and cultural understanding of various issues related to the past and present of the Islamic world. Additionally, we offer lessons on hadith, fiqh, tafsir, and kalam with the guidance of experts in Islamic sciences.
Beyond conferences, we organize regular reading/study groups and workshops throughout the academic term. In these groups and workshops, we study the chosen topics with the intensity of a university course and engage in discussions with our instructors.
To strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, support each other in practicing our faith, and raise awareness of the conditions of Muslims in different parts of the world, we organize various events. Some of these include iftars on the famous South Campus lawn, discussions on different Islamic regions, and photo and book exhibitions.
