As the Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club, we organized a two-session panel on the occasion of February 28.
In the first session, we discussed “Veiling as an Identity” with Dr. Tuba Hacer Korkmaz, approaching the subject of veiling from a faith-based perspective. We explored its significance and identity dimension for Muslim individuals, particularly Muslim women.
In the second session, we examined The Psychological Effects of February 28 with Dr. Deniz Işıker Bedir. We discussed the impact of the February 28 process on Muslims as a social trauma and its traces in individual and collective memory.

As Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club, we hosted Dr. Tuba Erkoç Baydar in the first session of the "Human Dignity" conference series to discuss "The Concept of Human in Islamic Jurisprudence."
In this session, fundamental issues such as the definition of human in Islamic thought, the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence on humans, and human responsibility were examined. Dr. Tuba Erkoç Baydar presented a comprehensive analysis of the moral and legal responsibilities of human beings within the framework of Islamic jurisprudence.
The conference sought answers to the following questions:
- How is "human" defined in Islamic thought?
- How does Islamic jurisprudence perceive humans?
- How is human responsibility explained?
After the presentation, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a deeper discussion about the place of humans in Islamic jurisprudence, individual religious and legal obligations.

As Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club, we organized an event titled "State Intervention in the Market and Pricing in the Era of Bliss." In this program, held with the participation of Professor Cengiz Kallek, we examined the position of the state regarding the market and pricing during the time of the Prophet and the Rashidun Caliphs.
Throughout the event, the economic structure of the early Islamic period, the relationship between the state and the market, and the mechanisms of state intervention in this process were analyzed in detail. Professor Cengiz Kallek provided a comparative explanation of the economic structure of the Era of Bliss and its similarities with contemporary economic models.
The program sought answers to the following questions:
- How did the market system function during the Era of Bliss?
- What role did the state play in pricing and market balance?
- What similarities and differences exist between the economic system of that period and modern economic practices?
At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to engage in an in-depth discussion on the relationship between the state and the economy. The program offered an enlightening perspective for those interested in economics and Islamic law.

As Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club, we hosted Dr. Tuba Erkoç Baydar in the second session of the "Human Dignity" conference series to discuss "Human Dignity in Islamic Thought."

As the Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club, in the third session of the "Human Dignity" conference series, we hosted Abdullah Resul Demir, the President of the Refugee Rights Association, and discussed the topic of "Human Dignity in Modern Law."
In this session, the place of the concept of human dignity in modern legal systems and how it is addressed within a legal framework were examined in detail. Lawyer Abdullah Resul Demir shared insights with the participants on how human dignity should be protected in a just legal system and the practical challenges encountered.
The conference sought answers to the following questions:
- What does human dignity mean as a legal concept?
- Can we speak of equal and just human dignity for everyone?
- Does the legal framework align with real-life experiences?
At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to ask questions about modern law’s approach to human dignity, human rights violations in international law, and the practical reflections of law, engaging in a deeper discussion on the subject.

As the Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club, we organized an event titled "Ramadan in the Ottoman Empire," where we explored how the holy month of Ramadan was observed during the Ottoman era and examined the traditions unique to that period. With the participation of Osman Aydınlı, we delved into the spiritual atmosphere of Ramadan in Ottoman society, the culture of worship, and its reflections on social life.
In this session, we discussed how the month of Ramadan was experienced in the Ottoman period and its similarities with today. Osman Aydınlı shared insights into the impact of Ramadan on Ottoman urban life, the traditions of suhoor and iftar, and worship practices such as completing the Quran and communal recitation.
The conference focused on the following topics:
- How was the arrival of Ramadan welcomed in Ottoman society?
- How did worship practices and traditions shape Ramadan?
- What are the changing and enduring aspects of Ramadan from the Ottoman era to the present?
At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to ask questions about the culture of Ramadan in the Ottoman period and its reflections today, gaining a deeper perspective on Ramadan traditions spanning from past to present.

As the Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club, in the final session of our "Human Dignity" conference series, we hosted İhsan Fazlıoğlu and discussed the topic "Dignity or 'Honneur'? What, How, and Why Should We Protect?"
In this session, the differences between human dignity and honor, how an individual can protect their own dignity, and the historical, cultural, and philosophical foundations of these concepts were examined in detail. İhsan Fazlıoğlu provided a deep perspective to the participants by explaining the relationship between the concept of dignity in Islamic thought and the Western notion of "honneur."
The conference sought answers to the following questions:
- How does a person protect their dignity/honor?
- Why should a person protect their dignity/honor?
- What are the differences between the concepts of dignity/honor in Eastern and Western thought?
At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a deeper discussion on the individual, social, and legal aspects of dignity and honor.

As Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club, we organized a conference titled "A Nation's Scholar: M. Emin Saraç" as part of our book exhibition series "Those Who Devoted Their Lives to Knowledge." In this event, featuring Mehmet Fatih Kaya, we discussed the scholarly life and contributions of the late Hadith and Fiqh scholar M. Emin Saraç, who passed away last year.
The conference included detailed discussions on M. Emin Saraç's educational journey, teaching career, and the students he mentored. Additionally, we explored the intellectual legacy spanning from the Ottoman era to the Republic and the efforts to preserve this tradition.

As Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club (BİSAK), we hosted Muhammed Emin Yıldırım in the conference we held on Monday, November 22. In this event, titled "Being Young Under the Leadership of the Prophet" we discussed how young people can draw inspiration from the guidance of our Prophet (pbuh) on their journey through life.
Muhammed Emin Yıldırım touched on the role of young companions in Islamic history, explaining the Prophet’s relationship with young people and the guidance he provided for their development. He also shared valuable advice on the challenges faced by today’s youth and how the example of the Prophet can serve as a guiding light in overcoming them.

In the fourth event of our "Islamic Geography Diaries" series, organized by the Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club (BİSAK), we hosted Mehmet Ali Büyükkara on Tuesday, November 23, at the İbrahim Bodur Auditorium.
In this event, we explored Afghanistan’s history, cultural structure, and current situation. Mehmet Ali Büyükkara provided a comprehensive analysis of Afghanistan’s place in the Islamic world, the transformations it has undergone throughout history, and its current political and social dynamics.
Participants had the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about Afghanistan’s Islamic identity, madrasah culture, ethnic composition, and recent developments. The program concluded with a Q&A session, allowing students to engage in a direct exchange of ideas with our speaker.
Our "Islamic Geography Diaries" events, aimed at understanding different regions of the Islamic world, will continue. Through such programs, we strive to gain a closer understanding of the history, culture, and contemporary challenges of Muslim societies in various geographies.

How should Islam be represented in cinema? How can cinema, one of the most powerful forms of artistic expression, be used to convey Islamic values?

As the Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club, we organized the event “Rawi: The Scholarly Journey of a Muhaddith in the 2nd Century Hijri” to witness the challenging yet lifelong scholarly journey of a hadith scholar, from Samarkand to Bukhara, Merv, Basra, Rayy, the Haramain, and many other centers of knowledge.
With the narration of Muhammed Enes Topgül, we embarked on a journey into the roots of hadith studies, discovering the culture of rihla (scholarly travel), the journeys of hadith scholars, and the significance of pursuing knowledge.
