Aliya Izetbegović's Interpretation of Modernism

Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club organized a conference titled "Aliya Izetbegović's Interpretation of Modernism" on April 8, 2016, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Mahmut Hakkı Akın. The event involved an in-depth discussion on Aliya Izetbegović's understanding of modernism, its relation to Western modernism, and its place in Islamic thought. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Hakkı Akın presented a comprehensive analysis of how Izetbegović critiqued modernity and repositioned Islam within this framework, as well as how this perspective has evolved over time.
