Monsieur Şemsettin, Overseas Education in the Ottoman Empire, and Modernization

Boğaziçi University Islamic Studies Club organized a conference titled "Monsieur Şemsettin, Overseas Education in the Ottoman Empire, and Modernization" on April 6, 2016, with the participation of Dr. Aynur Erdoğan. The event examined Monsieur Şemsettin's contributions to educational reforms in the Ottoman Empire and the relationship between overseas education and modernization processes in the empire. Dr. Aynur Erdoğan analyzed the impact of modernization movements and westernization efforts on the Ottoman education system, providing an in-depth discussion on educational models and changes during this period.
