Ulûm'ul Islam - Islamic Sciences Seminar Series #3: Innate Disposition, Contemplation, and Deduction: Reason or Reasoning?

As part of the "Ulûm'ul İslam" organized by the Boğaziçi Islamic Studies Community, we held our third event. In this seminar, we conducted an in-depth discussion on the concepts of thought and reasoning.
With the participation of Prof. Dr. İhsan Fazlıoğlu, this session explored the nature of reason, its function, and its role in constructing knowledge through the concepts of innate disposition (fıtrat), contemplation (nazar), and deduction (istidlâl). Together with our participants, we examined the differences between reason and reasoning, re-evaluating the fundamental pillars of our thought systems.
